The vast worldwide interface and bombardment of illuminated pixels is our most shared form of perception today. Without them society would come to a screeching halt. I enjoy many aspects of this modern system but I also enjoy my time away from it.
I value the perception of the sparkling sun reflecting off ocean waves, the flight of a colorful butterfly, the wings of a hummingbird, a spectacular sunset, or the ripples of rings from drops of rain falling down on a late-night neon pudlle.
All throughout my career I've blocked out the noise. I work with raw color and form without narrative, without explaination, real live perception, particularly how color and form can satisfy our perceptual needs and desires.
A marble sculpture may last a millennium, but our physical perceptual experience of it remains essentially the same: a beautiful form fixed in space. What happens when the artwork changes not simply what we see, but the way we see it?
